One hidden gem in the area you should check out is the unassuming road near Wilton Manors called “Eucalyptus Gardens”. It's comprised of several blocks where all the gay hangouts can be found as well as gay shops like Pride Factory, and museums like the Stonewall National Museum and the World AIDS Museum.

We always love coming here, particularly as it's a 365 day destination. We've been several times to Fort Lauderdale, either as a stopover for a cruise, or to go to one of the many gay parties they have here throughout the year like “Wicked Manors” on Halloween. The city has everything to suit all LGBTQ travellers including clothing optional male-only resorts, gay beaches, many gay events taking place throughout the year and of course the gay scene of Wilton Manors! U BETCHA! Round trip was $250.Over the past few decades, Fort Lauderdale has evolved massively to become the gay capital of Florida as well as one of the top LGBTQ destinations in the USA. Would we do it again (regardless of cost). They also fly out of Miami (seaplane base) to Bimini and there are more flights but still the same days. We flew over on Sunday and flew back on Thursday (flight was at 2:25 back). Pay attention to the flight schedules as they do not travel there on a daily basis. they have the Global Entry system there so you can use it if you like (no advantage by the way) or not. Since there are only a few people on the aircraft, customs is a breeze. They actually move your vehicle to long term parking there and it is waiting for you when you offload in FLL. Parking at the FLL Executive airport was convenient.

Flight levels were at 2000 feet there and back so you get nice views of the ocean (every seat is a window seat).īaggage was loaded and off loaded and was not a problem with customs in Bimini or back in Lauderdale. We had some weather on the way over but captain jockeyed around it easily.

Flight was 30 minutes from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini. My wife is handicapped and they went out of their way to make sure she was boarded and comfortable. The aircraft seats 8 and is a 2015 Cessna 208 Grand Caravan EX. This had to be one of the best flights I have ever been on. Took off on a runway and landed on water at the resort (they use the resort docks). Want to be treated to a GREAT EXPERIENCE, Fly Tropic! We flew to Bimini this past week. BE WARNED, at BIMINI, for return flight, it is ONLY 30 POUNDS!!!! They will charge you for anything over and your luggage may not make the flight if it is overweight, meaning, everyone else also has too much luggage. At the Seaplane base in Miami, it is 50 POUNDS. If you call and ask, the rep tells you 40 POUNDS. ONLY bad thing is on website, it says flight allows for 50 POUNDS per person luggage allowance. Check-in at MIA Seaplane Base was quick and easy, very friendly as were pilot and co-pilot.Īrrival in Bimini, seamless, luggage taken to Customs office, right on site for us, Hilton Shuttle met us right outside the door.Ĭheck-in for return flight in Bimini also painless and arrival into Seaplane Base in Miami was smooth except have to wait for Customs & Immigration to arrive to clear you. We booked this RT from MIA to Bimini, having seen the plane land and take off next to Marina at Resorts World Bimini so many times. Flight time 30 glorious minutes of fun and scenery. My wife and son agreed with me that the best part of our Bimini visit was the seaplane experience - highly recommended and much preferable to the high speed ferry alternative. The takeoff and landing was smoother than any experienced on the typical tarmac runways and with a flight elevation of about 1,800 feet the views of the Miami Beach skyline and port were spectacular as was the azure blue/green waters enroute to Bimini. The ground and flight staff was top notch, accommodating, cheerful, helpful and magnificent really adding to the overall positive experience. Parking at the terminal was free, the terminal was small but offered a great place to await transit with soft leather couches resembling more of a lounge than a terminal. We booked a mid-week get-away to Resorts World Bimini and flew on Tropic Ocean Airways from the Miami Seaplane terminal on MacArthur causeway, adjacent to the Port of Miami and directly across from several cruise ships.
